I see nothing pretentious in Fred Plotkin calling his fantastic book "Italy for the Gourmet Traveller." I think it is INFORMATIVE. Likewise, I think it's unpretentious that Michael Crichton called his book "Travels", and totally pretentious that .... But I do need AC and a comfy hotel with room service (but we eat only breakfast there, or perhaps a drink in the bar).
